Travel insurance specialists launch unique new
safety and security package for the Gap Year traveller
MPI Brokers have started Mind the Gap Year, a web based company providing specialist Gap Year insurance, and a complete safety package that will help keep young travellers secure.
Mind the Gap Year TM offers a range of services that include some innovative and highly practical solutions for young travellers wanting to make the most of their year out. For example, unplanned “risky” activities such as bungee jumping and white water rafting, which are often undertaken by people travelling, are usually exempt from policies, but covered with Mind the Gap Year. Working whilst abroad is another area that is surprisingly often exempt, whereas these policies cover pretty much all forms of work, whether paid or voluntary.
As well as the specialist insurance, there is an on-line travel planner, interpretation service and an electronic document safe enablingtravellers to keep copies of key documents such as passports and visas, in caseof loss or theft. Linking up with training company Objective; everyone who purchases a Mind the Gap Year TM insurance policy also receives a voucher towards an invaluable one day travel safety course, as completed by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman before embarking on their Long Way Down tour.
The new company is the brainchild of Michael Pettifer,Managing Director of MPI Brokers since 2002, who has over 30 years of working in the insurance industry and specialises in Travel and Wintersports Insurance.
Michael said; “When my now 19 year old son Angus was planning his Gap Year to Africa a couple of years ago, I was concerned about the level of travel insurance available and realised that he may not be covered for some activities, such as working for example. I have spent the past two years developing this package that will give parents and young travellers increased security and peace of mind, so that they can make the most of these wonderful experiences.”
